Ten on Tuesday.

1. I learned this weekend that it is somewhat difficult to zest a lime while toting a babe in a sling.
2. Ronald snapped this one of Mama and Fish.
3. And this one...I'm giving him a mwah! kiss.

4. I need a good buttermilk-using recipe to use up the other half a carton of buttermilk we have in the fridge from making blue cheese dressing.

5. I cooked! Yes, on Saturday and Monday, two new meals. I was growing very tired of our own frozen stuff. Eager for something fresh-tasting.

6. If you scroll back through some of my Flashback Fridays in Jan/Feb, there is a pic similar to those above, just with me and Alla. Except my hair wasn't stripey.

7. I ran! Yes, twice so far! Twenty minutes each! No stopping!

8. The Stahr's are coming to visit in less than a month!

9. May is a big month, with Mama's Day and lots of birthdays to celebrate.

10. Alla wore shorts today for the first time this year. So dang cute. Now we have to get her some summer shoes. Trying to solve that dilemma, which goes something like this: something protective she can wear everyday to the park or to play outside running the block with her friends, something to keep her cool in the hot hot summer, something that won't be ruined when she steps into her pool in them. Is there a one-shoe-fits-all here or am I looking at several pairs?

crocs are good for pool and some running around, but they have a tendency to get stuff in them at the park. good for you for running. i am going to start some brisk walking tomorrow :)

Do you have a price range on the shoes.... Sounds a lot like a Keen, to me, but I've been reluctant to shell out for the toddler version... Let us know what you decide!

I'm thinking Keens- REI has a sale going on right now for kids ones--- are you still here?

I agree with both the crocs and the keens. Keen can be pricey, though. Oh, and crocs do make closed-toe versions now (I think it's called endeavor). HTH

You look gorgeous!
Those are fabulous photos.
I remember how happy I was when I finally cooked dinner two nights in a row after Erin was born :0)

I cut out a "what to do with leftover buttermilk" article from a cooking magazine a few years back (cause I frequently find myself with the same dilemma!):

-Mix with mayo or sourcream and chopped herb for a chip/veggie dip
-Stir into mashed potatoes instead of milk
-Stir into melted chocolate for a tangy hot fudge sauce
-Make a smoothie with buttermilk, banana, and honey
-Add to scrambled eggs in place of milk

Love those photos of you and your boy!

I have a banana bread recipe that uses buttermilk. The boys LOVE it :)

Banana Bread

Prep: 15 minutes Bake: 45 minutes-1 hour Makes: 2 loaves, 24 slices each

1 ¼ cups sugar
½ cup butter (softened)
2 large eggs
1 ½ cups (3 medium) mashed very ripe bananas (riper the better)
½ cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 ½ cups flour (less flour will make thinner, sweeter bread)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped nuts, if desired

1) Move oven rack to low position so that tops of pans will be in center of oven. Heat oven to 350. Grease bottoms only of 2 loaf pans (8 ½ x 4 ½ ) with shortening.
2) Mix sugar & softened butter in large bowl. Stir in eggs until well blended. Stir in mashed bananas, buttermilk, and vanilla, beat until smooth. Stir in flour, baking soda & salt just until moistened. (Stir in nuts, if desired) Divide batter evenly between pans.
3) Bake 8 inch loaves about 45 minutes – 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes on wire rack.
4) Cool completely (about 2 hours) before slicing. Wrap tightly & store at room temperature for up to 4 days or refrigerate up to 10 days.

Uh, I think your husband needs to make you buttermilk pancakes in bed on Sunday! :-)

And yes two pairs..Crocs is all Kelsea wears on the weekend and a good pair of tennis shoes.

Good job on the running--I'm very impressed!

it's funny because i was just thinking the same thing about the shoes for O. Here is what I came up with. Old Navy has these little waterproof sandals that have tennis-shoe like soles on them (for the park), but watershoe like material on the top. And they are velcro for easy on/off. They are only $12!!!

I would vote keens too..or the version of them in Lands End?
